How We 3D Print Cosplay Props in Texas

From File to Finished Prop: Inside the Border3d Print Farm

At Border3d, every cosplay prop starts with a vision — yours. Whether you're building a full suit of armor or a single iconic weapon, our veteran-owned print farm in Texas is built to bring those ideas to life with precision and care.

Step 1: Design & File Preparation

Every project begins with a high-quality STL file, either sourced from our licensed designer partners or provided by the customer. Our team reviews each file for printability — checking wall thickness, support requirements, and orientation — before a single layer of resin is cured.

We work with files from some of the best designers in the cosplay and tabletop community, including Mystery Makers, Geoffro, and Galactic Armory, ensuring you get industry-leading detail right out of the printer.

Step 2: Resin 3D Printing

We use professional-grade MSLA (Masked Stereolithography) resin printers to produce parts with exceptional surface detail. Unlike FDM (filament) printing, resin printing captures fine textures, sharp edges, and intricate geometry that cosplay props demand.

Our print farm runs multiple machines simultaneously, allowing us to fulfill orders efficiently without sacrificing quality. Each print is monitored throughout the process to catch any failures early.

Step 3: Post-Processing & Finishing

Raw resin prints require careful post-processing. Every part goes through:

  • Washing — removing uncured resin with isopropyl alcohol
  • UV curing — hardening the part fully under UV light for maximum strength
  • Support removal & sanding — cleaning up support marks and smoothing surfaces
  • Quality inspection — checking for layer lines, warping, or defects before shipping

The result is a prop that's ready to prime and paint — or display as-is if you prefer the raw resin aesthetic.

Step 4: Packaging & Shipping

We take as much care packing your order as we do printing it. Each prop is wrapped securely to survive transit, and we ship across the US with tracking on every order.

Why Veteran-Owned Matters

Border3d was founded on the values of precision, discipline, and pride in craftsmanship — values instilled through military service. When you order from us, you're supporting a small, veteran-owned business that genuinely cares about the quality of every single print that leaves our shop.
